Bro. Ken Weaver was saved and called to preach at seven years old. However, after his salvation, his parents didn't stay in church. He grew up out of church and in a rough environment. He married at 19 years old. At that point he began to rethink his calling and he and Lisa began to look for a church.

In 1985 Bro. Weaver was living in Ruston, Louisiana. He and Lisa had visited several churches as a newly married couple but could not find a church that was what they needed spiritually. A friend of Lisa’s invited her to go to church with her one Sunday. Since her friend did not go to church either, they pondered where to go . . . finally, her friend decided she wanted to go to the church that had picked her up on a bus as a kid. So, they went that Sunday morning to Grace Bible Baptist Church. Bro. And Sis. Weaver both heard, for the first time in their life, a simple salvation message preached from a pulpit. It brought deep conviction to their soul. They were already saved, but they knew they weren’t living a godly life. They went to the altar as soon as the invitation began. This was their first step to being used of God.

Months later, and after much spiritual growth, Bro. Nelson trusted Bro. Weaver and Sis. Lisa to a bus route and a junior church. Even later, under Bro. Nelson’s ministry, Bro. Weaver surrendered to preach. He began preaching in the nursing home. Later, he took his first little church in a town called Haile, Louisiana. Two years later he took a church in Winnfield, Louisiana. Five years later he moved to Moultrie, Georgia.

Bro. Weaver has now been in Moultrie since 1995. Bro. Bill Folsom, his family, Sis. Allie Mae Willingham, and Sis. Latrelle Beaman were the only members left in the church. Bro. Mike O’Neal from Albany, Georgia, E-mailed Bro. Weaver an invitation to come preach at GIBC in Moultrie. Bro. Weaver accepted. That first Sunday he fell in love with the town and the church. Bro. Bill asked Bro. Weaver if he would pastor the church and try to build it back up. Bro. Weaver accepted.

Since that time God has given us many wonderful families. We have seen hundreds saved and baptized. We outgrew the original location, and God graciously provided us with the money to build a brand new building. Praise God, it is totally debt free!

Bro. Weaver has four children, April McKee, Len Weaver, Allen Weaver, and Jim Weaver. He also has eight grandchildren,
