Many religions tell you that you can't know for sure that you're going to Heaven when you die.  They tell you that you'll find out when you die.  Even worse, some religions don't even teach people how they can go to Heaven.  This page will give you the information straight from the Bible that tells exactly how you can make it to Heaven.  The information contained on this page is not from any specific religion, because religion doesn't get you to Heaven; only a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ will do that.  The information on this page is how God said you can get to Heaven.

1. You must know that you are a sinner.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 John 1:8,10

We can see from these verses that God makes it very clear that we are all sinners.  In God's eyes there is no such thing as a "little sinner" or a "big sinner", only sinners.  Anyone who has ever told a lie is a sinner.

2. You must know where sin leads.

For the wages of sin is death; Romans 6:23a

Sin carries with it a punishment.  Just like breaking a law causes you to pay a fine or go to prison, there is a punishment for sin.  Unfortunately the punishment for sin is much worse than paying a fine or spending a little time in prison.  The punishment for sin is ETERNITY in Hell.  This verse says the wages of sin is death.  When it says death, it is referring to the spiritual death that happens immediately after the body dies.  Less than one second after the body dies, the soul of the sinner is placed into Hell and remains there for all time to come.  1000 years after death, 1,000,000 years after death 1,000,000,000 years after death, the soul is still being tormented in Hell.

3. You must believe that Jesus paid for your sins when he died on the cross.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

 ...the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23b

These two verses show us that God loved us so much, that he gave his Son's life to pay for our sins so that we wouldn't have to spend eternity in Hell.  But just because Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins, it doesn't mean that we are all automatically going to Heaven.  It is a gift.  And in order to receive a gift you must take it from the giver.

4. You must understand that you cannot work to receive eternal life.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Eph 2:8-9

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us  Tit 3:5 

No amount of good deeds or living right or sacraments can get you to Heaven.  You cannot do anything to get yourself to Heaven.  It is all by the blood of Jesus Christ.

5. You must accept the gift of eternal life.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  Romans 10:9,10,13

In order to receive the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, you must believe in your heart that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, and was raised from the dead.  You must also confess with your mouth these things and ask Jesus to save you.  It does not matter what kind of life you have lived until this point.  Romans 10:13 above says that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  You may think you don't deserve this gift.  You are not alone in thinking this, but Jesus will not turn you away.  

Below is an example of a prayer you could pray in order to do this.  Please don't wait another minute before you pray this prayer.  We are not guaranteed another day, and wouldn't it be terrible if don't accept this gift now and you were to die tomorrow in a car accident.  You would be separated from God in Hell forever.

Before you pray...it is important for you to understand that just saying these words does not save you.  You must believe these words with all of your heart.  God looks on our hearts and knows us.  He can't be fooled by some vain words, you must believe this truth.
